In April the senior infants took part in the national spring clean. Everyone that took part showed excellent care for the environment. The children all learnt about taking care of the environment through picking up litter and how that can make a massive difference to how they enjoy a space outside.
We have been reading the story Dear Zoo as part of ‘Amazing Animal’ topic and during Aistear the children wrote their own version of the book. When they found out it was Linzi’s son Otis’ favourite book, the class wanted to read their book to him. Otis came into Sycamore class and absolutely loved hearing the children read about the different animals that were sent from the zoo and why they sent them back, including a turtle who was too slow, a parrot who was too noisy and a spider who was too scary! You can watch the full video of the class reading to Otis below. As part of our school's Green Flag for the Transport Flag, the children in Senior Infants had a scooter workshop on safe scooting. It was lots of fun!
Our topic for January was all about Clothes. We enjoyed playing in the clothes shop, dressing up in the house corner, painting outfits, being fashion designers and retelling the story- The Smartest Giant in Town. We also learned about magnetism this month and had lots of fun exploring magnets in our play.
Our topic for November was Wonderful Water. We were very busy washing cars,, digging for treasure, measuring wellie boots, making Rainbow Fish and fishing for phonics!
We enjoyed being Scientists this week! Well done to the boys and girls who prepared experiments and shared them with their class.
What a lovely time of year. The senior infants are really excited to learn all about Autumn and also experience the taste and fun of cafes! We will keep sharing some of our learning journey here throughout the month.
Today the children enjoyed listening to and enjoying games in different languages for European Day of Languages. Chimgay and Ildi from the school shared their home languages with us, ,Mongolian and Hungarian. It was so much fun playing games in new languages and singing songs. Thanks to Alicia, Zoe, Patrick, and Albert for sharing their home countries food with us!
